Our Xmas Camps are just around the corner and we still have places left!

We are running 3 Camps over the Christmas holiday period, Glossop, Disley and an Adventure Camp. The action starts on Wednesday 21st December, so there is still time to sign up. 

Sporting fun this Christmas can be found at-

• Disley ‘Soccer & Multi-Sport’ Holiday Camp! When – 3 Day Camp from Wednesday 21st until Friday 23rd December. Where – Disley Primary School, Dane Bank Drive, Disley. Times – 9.30am until 3.30pm. Cost – £12 per day or £30 for 3 days!

• Glossop ’Soccer & Multi-Sport’ Holiday Camp! When - 2 Day Camp from Tuesday 22nd until Friday 23rd December. Where – St. Margaret’s Primary School, Gamesley, Glossop. Times – 9.30am until 3.30pm. Cost – £12 per day!

• Adventure Camp! When – 3 Day Camp from Wednesday 21st until Friday 23rd December. Where – Unit 5, Rossington Place, Graphite Way, Hadfield, Glossop, Derbyshire, SK13 1GQ. Times – 9.00am until 5.00pm. Activities – Wednesday = Survival & Adventure Day. Thursday = Winter Walk Expedition. Friday = Mountain Biking. Cost – £25 per day or £65 for 3 days!

Peak Active Sport Director, Mark Jennings, has been on the look out for new coaches to work with PAS and also with Soccer Academy in the US. Every year Mark and Paul Ellis, President of Soccer Academy, hold interviews all over the UK. Last week Mark and Paul interviewed over 100 possible candidates who want to either coach for PAS or coach over in America with Soccer Academy.

During their week, Mark and Paul were also invited to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, where Soccer Academy have a strong link. Mark being a Spurs fan, was obviously overjoyed at the prospect of meeting all the players. They were also invited to watch the 1st team train and able to ask various questions to players and coaching staff.

Many of our after school clubs finish his week…

If you or your child signed up for our Olympic themed clubs, then you will be recieving a special goodie bag! The theme for this term was the ‘Bronze Award’ meaning everyone will receive a bronze PE bag, certificate, flyer for our Xmas Camps plus an Olympic size bronze medal!!!

Our Olympic themed after school clubs will restart again after the Christmas period. The next theme will be the ‘Silver Award’ and again there will be various goodies up for grabs.

Finally we get asked quite a lot why we give out goodie bags… Our answer is simple, we like to reward children for taking part in sport! As many know the benefits of sport we want and need to encourage as many children to take part, hopefully the goodies are an added incentive into participation within sport.

Directors at Peak Active Sport have received the ‘Derbyshire Coach Mark Award’.

Both Mark Jennings and Steve Brackenridge have obtained the ‘Derbyshire Coach Mark’ which only 2 other sports coaches in Derbyshire have received. It is an award to demonstrate high standards in sports coaching. One assesses commented, “Overall very good sessions are being delivered, demonstrating full control over a group and all participants clearly enjoy the sessions”.

The Derbyshire Coach Mark is a licensing scheme designed to ensure coaches working within a school environment do so to a high quality standard. The Derbyshire Coach Mark compliments the coaching structure within National Governing Bodies of Sport, offers one brand easily recognisable to schools and provides a structure for coaches to develop within.

Other coaches from PAS are in the final stages of obtaining the status and are awaiting their assessments. Following this, PAS will have the most ‘Coach Mark’ coaches working within schools and with other local organisations through Derbyshire and the High Peak.

Thank you to everybody who attended one of our Holiday Camps over the October half term. All the coaches were very impressed with the turn out and the way that everyone got on with each other.

It just shows how important our camps are, not just from a physical point of view but also from a social point of view. Our camps have lots of children playing sport together, most of which they have never met before. It’s amazing how quickly friendships develop. By the end of the week everyone has made lots of new friends and improved their social skills without even knowing about it.

The Xmas Camps may be the the first chance to see those new friends you or your child made… Confirmed at the minute are Disley for 3 days, Glossop for 2 days plus a 3 day Adventure Camp! Buxton is pending at the moment, but hopefully Buxton Juniors will confirm the venue this week. Look out for our flyers going into schools next week!

We are half way through the October half-term and all Camps are running well! The Holiday Camp campers are doing a great job and the coaches are really pleased with how children are doing. Mark and myself could’nt be happier also… The Adventure Camp really is going well this week, a cracking bunch of children are making it a real success!

We have recently had a new sign put up at PAS.

From the centre of Glossop, travel down the A57 towards Dinting. Pass through Dinting, pass Glossop Caravans, until you arrive at Woolley Bridge roundabout. Turn right at the roundabout and follow the road until you arrive at another roundabout. At this roundabout turn left, from here you should be able to see our new sign. Simply travel 100 yards down the road and turn right into the white industrial units, our unit is number 5.

We’ll see all the Adventure Campers at the unit this week!

Soon it will be October half term and with this it brings our exciting sports programme!

PAS will be hosting 5 ‘Soccer & Multi-Sport’ Holiday Camps all in and around the High Peak. Locations are Glossop, Buxton, Chapel, Bollington and Disley! These Camps are for boys and girls aged 4 – 16 and run all week from Monday 24th October until Friday 28th October. The fun starts at 9.30am and lasts until 3.30pm daily.

PAS will also be running another ‘Adventure Camp’! This Camp is for children from 8 to 16 year old and includes various activities over the full week! There are only 12 places available on the Adventure Camp, so be quick to book on!

One of Peak Active Sport’s main sporting activities are the after school clubs!

We now offer and run these clubs in over 35 different schools all in and around the High Peak. Clubs are usually based around 2 sports each week, Soccer is always played and a different Multi-Sport each week keeps everybody entertained.

The first after school club started on Friday 23rd at St. Anne’s Primary in Buxton. “It was a cracking start with 32 children taking part, all of which were fantastic for the first week” – Comments from Steve and Steph.

All other clubs start this coming week and if you haven’t registered yet, it’s still not too late. Get your forms in this week and we’ll see you after school!
