Looking back at Easter…

Looking back at Easter… it was a real cracker!!!

We had a super busy Easter at PAS running a total of 10 camps over a 3 week period. All camps were great fun and everyone who participated did a great job!

The highlight of our Easter activities was most definitely our 3 day Residential Adventure Camp.

After our de-brief, ice breaker games and some Laser Tag, our group of 12 set off to camp on what was a lovely sunny day. The drive to Shining Cliff near Matlock, where we were based, is roughly 1.5 hours and once we arrived at camp it was another 15-20 walk to our accommodation. The centre was perfect for our young group and everyone settled in quickly after what was already quite a busy day. This said there was plenty of work to do…

Bushcraft activities were in full swing, so it was important to get enough wood to keep our camp fire going. After collecting a large amount of wood, all the children attempted to start their own camp fires. Using the flint and steel method, many of the children were successful. After the success of this, the evening was then spent cooking our dinner on the open fire, before heading back to the centre to grab an early night.

The next day was by far the best experience of the trip… Problem Solving Games… Obstacle Course… Zip Wire Fun and Raft Building!!! As you can imagine, the children had a wonderful day and really bonded as a group. We also managed to visit Matlock Bath on our way back to the centre, and then finish the day off well with the infamous Night Walk.

The final day was spent Shelter Building and then playing a number of Team Games. It was great to see that teamwork, communication skills and also leadership had improved from the first time we saw the group.

We finally collected our things and made the uphill journey to the PAS vans before setting off for home. Overall it was a brilliant trip and again one to remember for many years to come!
